The NFL Draft starts tomorrow and ends on Saturday. This is a chance for teams to fill their needs with young talent. A wide receiver who may be traded is DeAndre Hopkins who could be dealt to Buffalo.
Hopkins will be entering his 11th NFL season. He suited up for the Houston Texans and Arizona Cardinals. Hopkins surpassed the 1,000-yard mark 6 times in his NFL career. Last season was a down year for him playing in a career-low 9 games for Arizona. Hopkins was still productive with 717 receiving yards and 3 touchdowns.
Arizona is rebuilding with a new Head Coach, Jonathan Gannon. Arizona might not be competitive this season. It wouldn’t be a surprise for Arizona to trade Hopkins to a contending team during the draft. The Bills make a lot of sense as a landing spot.
Buffalo is one of the best teams in the NFL and a Super Bowl contender. They have a top quarterback in the league, Josh Allen. He has one of the better receivers in the NFL, Stefon Diggs, to throw the football to. Adding Hopkins gives him another target and together they might be the best receiver duo in the entire NFL.
According to CBSsports.com, Bills’ linebacker Von Miller said, “He knows we want him here and we know he wants to be a Buffalo Bill. There’s so many things that go into really making those things happen, but I feel like we’re in a good position to get it done.”
Buffalo sounds like a great landing spot. The problem is Hopkins’s contract for this season. His cap hit is around $30.750 million, a huge number for them to take on. For them to acquire Hopkins this weekend, a pay cut might be in the works. It seems like Hopkins’s days in Arizona are done. It’s just a matter of when.
