Time For Manu Ginobili To Hang Up His Sneakers For Good From The NBA

By Jordan Long

On Monday the San Antonio Spurs’ season ended in game 4 of the Western Conference Finals. Golden State finished up the sweep with a 129-115 victory. It might be the last NBA game for shooting guard Manu Ginobili.

Ginobili finished up his 15th year in the NBA, all with the Spurs. He averaged 18.7 minutes per game and added 7.5 points per game, lowest of his career. Throughout his NBA career, the Spurs could count on him to give them decent minutes off the bench averaging 13.6 points, 1.4 steals, and 3.9 assists per game. Ginobili made his name in the playoffs with 14.1 points, 1.3 steals, and 3.8 assists per game.

Ginobili will take his time this summer to decide if he wants to keep playing basketball or hang it up for good. He is a free agent. According to ESPN.com, San Antonio Spurs shooting guard Danny Green said, “He’s done some great things here, and only half of us can dream to accomplish some of those things. We’ll see what decision he makes soon. I’m sure guys will try to talk him into one more year.”

There isn’t a reason for Ginobili to come back and play another 82 game schedule. He was part of 4 NBA Championships with the Spurs. Ginobili has been selected into 2 NBA All-Star games and chosen to the All-NBA Third Team twice. For his play off the bench, Ginobili was awarded the NBA Sixth Man Of The Year in 2008. There is nothing left for him to prove in the game of basketball since Ginobili has accomplished a lot.

Ginobili needs to make the right decision and retire from the game of basketball. He can’t play it at a high level anymore and that showed this season.   Ginobili’s next stop will be the Basketball Hall Of Fame. He has established himself as one of the games top players and is deserving of this highest honor.

What should Manu Ginobili decision be?
