Potential Landing Spots For Running Back Ezekiel Elliott

By Jordan Long

The Dallas Cowboys cut running back Ezekiel Elliott.  This comes as no surprise since they will be relying on running back Tony Pollard who got the franchise tag. Elliot is now a free agent.  There are a few teams who could be interested in the running back.

One team is a Super Bowl contender, the Buffalo Bills.  The Bills have one of the best quarterbacks in the league,  Josh Allen.  He can read the defense to find the open receiver.  What he is missing is a veteran runner.

The Bills need a bigger threat in the back field besides Nyheim Hines and James Cook.   Adding Elliot boots this running back core.  He might even start with his experience in the NFL.  For Allen he wouldn’t have to use his arm as much since the running game is going to be more effective. Elliot may be their key to going far in the postseason.

The Cincinnati Bengals are another team who should consider Elliot.  They have one of the better running backs in the game, Joe Mixon.  Mixon knows how to carry the rock to gain yards.  That is great but in the NFL a team needs more than one running back.        Elliot comes into play for the Bengals since he can be a reliable backup running back.   That would improve this rushing attack.

The Chargers may be in the market for a running back.  That all depends on Austin Ekeler.  He is seeking a trade out of L.A. The Chargers gave him permission to seek one.   Now if a trade happens, the Chargers most likely would get draft picks back.  Even so, the Chargers need a running back if that is the case.  Of course, they could select one in the NFL Draft. That still leaves a void for a veteran.  Elliot makes the most sense to be signed by the team.  He would step in and be the starter if Ekeler is traded.

Elliot knows he will be playing in the NFL next year.  The question is where.  He will take his time in free agency to find the best landing spot for him.
