NFL Unsigned Free Agents Waiting For A Call

NFL football is right around the corner. Training camps will open in July and there are plenty of respectable players who are still free agents. A few of them are Ryan Fitzpatrick, Arian Foster, and Anquan Boldin.

Ryan Fitzpatrick is the best quarterback left in free agency. Fitzpatrick wanted to stay with the New York Jets. In April they offered him a contract worth $8 million a year. Rather than take the deal, he waited to see if a better one would come.   Fitzpatrick wants to be paid starter money which is around $14 to $16 million. It hasn’t happened yet. Fitzpatrick would help any team. He is a smart quarterback who reads the defenses and throws to the wide-open receivers.  Those yards would be for first downs or touchdowns. He will be on a team, probably the Jets, but it is all about the money.

Arian Foster is a speedy running back. Two teams showed interest in him last week, the Denver Broncos and New England Patriots.   Foster has been in the league seven years, all with the Houston Texans. In those seasons he rushed for 6,472 yards and 54 touchdowns.   Foster has an impressive yards per carry of 4.5. Sure he could assist the Denver Broncos or the New England Patriots running game, the problem is his injury history. Last year he appeared in four games before he tore his Achilles. In 2013 a back injury limited him to eight games. Whoever picks him up will need to be careful and limit his carries so he won’t sustain another injury.   Foster, though, has shown he can run and help a team win.

Anquan Boldin is a speedy receiver who has been in the NFL for 13 years. He is a veteran receiver who could improve a teams’ receiving core. Boldin has reached 1,000 yards receiving seven times.   He has a total of 13,195 receiving yards and is a threat in the red zone with 74 touchdowns. Boldin is not a number one receiver but can be the number two option or a slot receiver. It is astonishing that he is still on the open market because he rarely drops a pass thrown to him. When he catches it, he can be a threat to go for big yardage.

These are a few of the remaining free agents in the NFL.  They are waiting for a team to call them. Hopefully they will be in a uniform at some point this year.

Which is the biggest free agent name still out there?
