Impressive Streak For Colorado Mesa University Mavericks’ Softball

The Colorado Mesa University Mavericks’ softball team is on a hot streak. Heading into this past weekend they had won 17 in a row and hosted Colorado of School of Mines for a four game series.

Games one and two were on Saturday. Mines was no match as the Mavs outscored them 16 to 5. That extended the streak to 19.   On Sunday game 1, was all Mavs as they shutout Colorado School of Mines 8-0. Game 2 Mesa, was down 6 to 4 going into the bottom of the 8th inning and scored 3 runs to win in a comeback 7-6. The Mavs have now won 21 straight and improved their record to 26-7 overall. They are an impressive 25-1 in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference play.

During this streak the Mavs have been victorious in a variety of ways. Some games they defeated their opponents with timely hitting, other times with pitching. The Mavs have also won in close games when there were a lot of runs scored or low scoring games.

The 21 game winning streak is their longest since 2007. In that season Mesa started with 12 straight wins. That year they won the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.

Colorado Mesa will look to continue this streak this weekend in Denver. They will have two games against New Mexico Highlands and two versus Colorado Christian University. They return home on April 16 for a four games series hosting Western New Mexico University. Check out all the Mavs softball games at Colorado Mesa Softball field on the CMU campus.
