End Of An Era? Quarterback Tom Brady To Decide His Future

By Jordan Long

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers lost to the L.A. Rams 30-27 in the Divisional Round of the NFL playoffs. Questions are now swirling about Buccaneer’s quarterback Tom Brady and if he is going to play one more year.  Brady will take his time to decide what he wants to do.

Brady had one of the best seasons in his career at age 44.  He passed for a career high 5,316 yards and 43 touchdowns.  Brady has such a quick release when he throws the football making it  difficult for a defense to pick the ball off.  Brady totaled just 12 interceptions.

Tampa Bay ended with a 13-4 record, tied with Green Bay for the best in the NFC.  Due to tiebreakers they were the 2nd seed beating the Philadelphia Eagles in the Wild Card Round 31-15.  In that game, Brady totaled 271 passing yards to go along with 2 touchdowns.

Yesterday, Tampa Bay looked dead in the water.  They were behind 27-3 with 7:07 left in the 3rd quarter. Brady rallied them back to tie the game at 27 with 1:43 left in the game. Unfortunately for him, his heroics were all for not as L.A. nailed a 30-yard field goal with no time left.

Brady played well.  He was 30 of 54 passing for 329 yards and 1 touchdown.  Brady had 1 pick but still, Brady gave his team a chance to win.

After the defeat, Brady is going to think about his future.  According to ESPN, Brady said, “I haven’t put a lot of thought into it, so you know, we will just take it day by day and kind of see where we are at.”

Brady should ride off into the sunset.  There isn’t anything left to prove.  He is going to go down as the greatest quarterback to ever play this game.  Adding regular season and postseason victories, Brady totaled 278, 78 more than Peyton Manning who is second. He also leads in passing yards  and touchdowns. He has passed for 84,520 yards and 624 touchdowns.  Let’s not forget he also has 7 Super Bowl rings.  With the Tampa Bay Buccaneers Super Bowl victory last year, he joined Peyton Manning as the only two starting quarterbacks to win a Super Bowl for 2 franchises.   Just looking at all these he should hang it up.

The only reason to play 1 more season is he is under contract.  Brady  knows he will be a first ballot Hall of Famer.  He will take his time to decide his future.  Retiring might be the best for him because he has nothing left to prove in the game of football.  The only reason to come back is because Brady can still play the game at a high level.
