Denver Broncos’ Quarterback Limbo

By Jordan Long

On Sunday, the Denver Broncos fell to the Oakland Raiders 21-14. Their record now stands at 3-8. The losing streak increased to 7 games. Denver started the game with Paxton Lynch under center but he hurt his leg rolling out for a pass in the 2nd half. Denver finished the game with Trevor Siemian. Now the Broncos turn their attention to the Miami Dolphins. Who should start next week at quarterback?

Lynch was unimpressive. He was 9 of 14 throwing the ball with 4 sacks. Lynch had 41 yards and no touchdowns but tossed an interception in the end zone. He didn’t look like a starting quarterback in the NFL. Lynch held onto the ball and would look directly at who he was throwing to rather than looking at all the receivers. His passes were too tall or short to the wide outs. Receivers couldn’t catch the football because his passes were not on target. He left the game when the Broncos were down 21-0.

Trevor Siemian came in and played the 4th quarter. He looked like a different quarterback than the Broncos have seen the whole year. Siemian was able to read the defense and find his open man. He didn’t hold onto the football as much and was sacked only 1 time. Siemian finished the game with 149 passing yards and 2 touchdowns.

Looking at this Sunday’s game against the Dolphins, Lynch will not be able to play because of an ankle sprain. Siemian and Brock Osweiler will be the 2 quarterbacks. Siemian will start the game Sunday. He was the better quarterback against the Raiders. He shined even though Denver didn’t win the game. If he struggles, then go back to Osweiler. If they both play poorly then go back to the drawing board. Denver is hoping to snap a 7 game skid against the Dolphins.

What do you think of the Denver Broncos starting Trevor Siemian this Sunday?
